An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the Parish of Saint Margaret
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the fifteenth day of February in the twenty second Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
Robert Faulks< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of John
Hale
< no role > , Thomas Thompson< no role > William Harrison< no role > , Walter James< no role >
Joseph Mabley< no role > John Smith< no role > , Thomas Sherwood< no role > , William
Ireland
< no role > , John Mc.Intosh< no role > , James Ford< no role > , Thomas Dann< no role >
and Matthew Hill< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Robert Faulks< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say, That the said Robert Faulks a Laborer
on the First day of February in the Year aforesaid being with Joseph
Slade
< no role > another Laborer lifting a Piece of Timber in the Yard of
John Chamberlayne< no role > in the Parish of St. Mary Lambeth
Timber Merchant , It so happened that the said Piece of
Timber slipped down, and that one End there of Accidentally
Casually and by Misfortune struck against the Right Leg
of the said Robert Faulks< no role > , whereby the said Robert Faulks< no role > then
and there received one mortal Bruise in and upon his said
Right Leg, of which said mortal Bruise he the said Robert Faulks< no role >
from the said first day of February in the Year aforesaid until
the thirteenth day of the same Month and Year at the said
Parish of Saint Margaret within the Liberty and County
aforesaid languished, and thereof then and there did die.
And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do
say, that the said Robert Faulks in Manner and by the
Means aforesaid Accidentally Casually and by Misfortune
came to his death and not otherwise. In Witness
whereof as well the said Coroner as the said John Hale< no role >
Foreman of the said Jurors on the behalf of himself and
the rest of his Fellows, in their presence, have to this
Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the Day Year
and Place above written
