An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the Parish of Saint Paul Covent Garden
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Eleventh day of February in the twenty second Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
William Ogle< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of Matthew

good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said William Ogle< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say That the said William Ogle< no role > and another Man to the Jurors
aforesaid unknown on the Fourth day of February in the Year aforesaid with Force and Arms
at the Parish ofin the County aforesaid in and upon one Robert Mitford< no role > in the Peace
of God and of our said Lord the King and in the King's Highway then and there being feloniously
did make an Assault, and him the said Robert Mitford in Bodily fear and Danger of his Life in
the Kings Highway aforesaid then and there feloniously did put, and the Goods Chattels and Monies
of the said Robert Mitford from the Person and against the Will of the said Robert Mitford in the King
Highway aforesaid then and there feloniously did steal take and carry away against the Peace of
our said Lord the King his brown and Dignity Whereupon the said Robert Mitford then and there
having a certain Pistoll of the Value of five Shillings in his Right Hand loaded with Gun powder and a leaden
Bullet he the said Robert Mitford the same Pistol to and against the said William Ogle< no role > in Defence of himself and
his Property did then and there lawfully and Justifiably shoot off and discharge and him the said William Ogle< no role >
with the leaden Bullet aforesaid so discharged from and out of the said Pistol by force of the Gunpowder
aforesaid in and upon his right Breast did then and three Strike Wound and Penetrate Giving to the
said William Ogle< no role > then and there in and upon his said Right Breast one mortal Wound of the breadth of
one Inch and of the depth of six Inches of which said mortal Wound he the said William Ogle< no role > at the
Parish last mentioned and also at the said Parish of Saint Paul Covent Garden within the Liberty and
County aforesaid from the said Fourth day of February in the Year aforesaid until the Eighth day of
the same Month in the same Year did languish and languishing did live on which said Eighth day
of February in the Year aforesaid the said William Ogle< no role > at the said Parish of Saint Paul Covent Garden
within the Liberty and County aforesaid of the said Mortal Wound did die, And that the said
Robert Mitford him the said William Ogle< no role > in manner and form aforesaid, in Defence of himself and his
Property did lawfully and Justifiably kill and slay.

In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said Matthew Pearson< no role >
Foreman of the said Jurors, on the behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows, in their
presence, have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the Day year and Place above written
