Informations taken this Second day
of January 1775 at Knightsbridge in the
Parish of St. Margaret within the Liberty of
Westmr. in the County of Midsex upon an
Inquisition touching the death of a Woman
unknown lying dead in the said Parish
Liberty and County.

Thomas Lawrence< no role > of Grosvenor Mews Coachman
on his Oath saith That on Saturday last (Decr. 31.)
Dept. went to Skaiting upon the Ice in Hyde Park
Says that a Gentleman told Dept. that he suspected
he saw a Woman lying under the Ice in a Pond
there between the two Bridges, about Seven Yards
from the Shore, Says that he saw the Deced under
the Ice there and by throwing Stones broke the Ice,
near the place where Deced lay, and then went
to the Sign of the Fox in Knightsbridge and acquaint
the Man who keeps the House therewith, upon which
two Men belonging to Mr. Chandler went with Dept.
into the Park , and after Breaking the Ice Dept.
& the Men with a long Pole got the Deced to the Shore
in the Parish of St. Margaret Westmr. Says that
the Deced was dead and appeared to have been
some days in the Water, Says that her Clothes were
on, consisting of a Black Gown & Bonnet, Black
Stockings, Black this Shoes & a Pair of yellow Buckles
with a Blue & white Linnen Handkerchief a Thamble and a
half penny in her Pocket. Says that the Deced's
face looked of a fresh Colour, but Dept. observed no
Marks of violence upon her.
