day of September 1773 at the Parish of
St. Martin in the Fields within the Liberty
of Westmr . in the County of Middx upon an
Inquisition touching the death of George
Clayton

and County

Thomas Leach< no role > of King Street Seven Dials in the
Parish of St. Giles in the Fields Surgeon on his Oath
saith That one day last week being the day after the Deced
reced the hurt he was sent for to the Deced whom
he found at the House of Mr. Jones Victualler at the
Meres Gate, having a Bruise in his Forehead
and bath his Eyes black and the Skin grazed [..]
the side ofon his face, and complained of [..] and his lips Swelled in his Book Says that
he saw the Deced again that Evening, when the Deced
was quite Sensible, and said that he was in
Liquor and was ill used by a fall down Stairs
Says that he bled the Deced and did what he thought
was necessary, Says that the Deced next day told
Dept. thatsomebody hadhe was kickedhimbut could not
tell by whom, Says that he attended the Deced
afterwards, and that the Deced was carried to the
Parish of St. Martins Workhouse on Monday last Says
that he talked to the Deced when he was sensible but
Deced could not say whether he accidentally fell into
the Cellar or was thrown down, and Dept. believes
that he might very possibly receive the hurt by
folling down there.

Waiter to Mr. Jones, Says that on Thursday last in the
Afternoon, the Deced appeared to be in Liquor and
