not carry the Deced many Yards but let the Basket fall
down with the Deced in it, Says that the Deced was very
weak and ill, and unable to walk, Says that he desired
the Man Unknown to stay with the Deced until Tho. Gardner
went to the Watchhouse to get some Body to take care of
the Deced, Deponent being obliged to finish crying the hour,
but they both refused, saying they could not stay, but that
they would see him house, Says that after crying the hour
Deponent came there again, but he found nobody at the
Place. Says that he did not see the Deced since until this
Day when he viewed the Deced in the Workhouse , and that
he was then Dead, but Deponent observed no Marks of
violence upon him, and Deponent believes that Deced
died for want of the Necessaries of Life, and by the
inclemency of the Weather

WESTMINSTER CHAPTER MUNIMENTS

Thomas Gardner< no role > of Peter Street in the Parish of St. James
Labourer on his Oath saith that on Thursday Night last
he was drinking at the Black Horse in the Hay Market where
Deced also was, who used to lodge in the same House with
Depont. Says that he and Michael Cassity< no role > were going home
from thence about Eleven O'Clock, Depot. desired the Deced to
go home along with him says that Deced went along with
them about twenty Yards but was not able to Walk being
very ill and weak, says that said Michael Cassity proposed
to carry the Deced in a Butcher 's Basket which said Cassity
had, to which Deced Agreed and he was put into the Basket
and lifted upon said Cassity's Shoulder [..] Says that said Cassity did
not carry the Deced for, the Deced jumping or Springing out of the Basket
and falling on his side on the Ground as Depot. believes, but
that he did not complain of being hurt, says that soon after
Dept. said Cassity took hold of both the Deced's Arms and
helped him into the Cower End of Wind mill Street, intending to
get him house but Deced being so ill they were not able
to get him any further, Says that they proofleftput the Deced on
his backside by a Door in said Windmill Street and left him
there, Deced being the Alive.
