Informations taken this fourth day of April 1764
at the Parish of St James within the Liberty of Westmr
in the County of Middlesex on an Inquisition taken
on View of the Body of John Griffiths< no role > lying Dead
in the said Parish Liberty and County.

William Clark< no role > a Lodger at Mr. Ward in Oxford Road , in
the Parish of St. Mary le Bone Labourer , on his Oath saith, That
on Monday last about four O'Clock in the Afternoon Deponent
being at Work for Mr. William Brown< no role > Carpenter of Orchard
Street near Oxford Road , and coming with a Truck belonging
to said Mr. Wm. Brown with a large piece of Fir Timber
thereon drawn by the three Horses from Scotland Yard into King Street ,
as Deponent believes, Says, that in coming from Warwick
Street into Beet Street, and in going to turnturningthe Corner, the Carter
John (whose Sir name Deponent knows not) found it would
be difficult to pass there, and pulled the Horses close to the
Iron Rails of the Houses in order to pass along, Deponent
being then behind holding the Timber, Says that John
Griffiths
< no role > the Deced lay upon the Ground when Deponent first saw
him, says that he immediately run to Deced who lay opposite
to the fore part of said Timber, and bled at the Month and
the Headhad A Cut upon his Head from which much Blood
issued, Says that the Deced did not Speak, but died there
immediately, and Deponent believes that the Deced
reced the Cut on his Head from the fore part of the Timber
which occasioned his Death, and Says that he saw no
Person near the Deced at that time, Says that the Carter
had hold of the Middle Horse, with his Back towards the
Deced at the time that the Deced reced the hurt, and
verily believes that said Carter could not then see Deced.
Says that the said piece of Timber was about thirty feet
long, but Deponent does not know whose Property the
same is.

his Oath saith, that on Monday last in the Afternoon
Deponent was driving three Horses belonging to said Mr.
Brown drawingwitha Truck and a piece of Fir Timber thereon
and says that in turning out of Warwick Street into
