Sheweth
That your Petitr: by Indenture of Apprentiship bearing Date
the 4th.day of March1740 was Bound to
John Pitcher< no role >
of the
Parish of St. Ann Westmr
. Watchmaker
to Serve him in the manner of an
Apprentice
for the Term of 7 Years & Your Petitrs. said Master was to teach him
the said Art or Business of a watch maker & find & provide for your Petitr.
during the said Term all necessarys
That during the time your Petitr. hath Served his said
Master your Petitr. hat frequently had such unwholsome provision
purposely provided for him that he could not Eat the same and your Petitirs.
Mistress out of mere spite and hatred towards your Petitr. hath very often
during the time aforesaid beat and abused your Petitr. without any Provocation
That your Petitr. about 6 Weeks ago in his Masters vacancy of
Business did some small peice of work for pocket money for himself of
which your Petitrs. Master being informed he in a great rage required
your Petitrs. Box (wherein the same was) to be opened, which your Petr.
not readily doing his Master struck him a Violent blow on the Head which
provoked your Petitr. to strike him again in a Night manner for which
your Petitr. being had before a Magestrate was by him (for want of Bail)
committed to the Gate house where he has remained a Prisoner near 6 weeks
without any manner of subsistance from his Master
Yor. Petr. therefore Most humbly prays your
Worships to great your Petitr. such Relief in
the Premisses as the Nature of his Case may
require and as to your Worships shall seem meet
And yor. Petr. as in Duty bound shall ever pray Etc
