Whereas an order made at the last General Quarter Session of the peace held for
this City and Libty by Adjornment the tenth day of last for confirming a Effort
made by Thomas Colthurst< no role > , Nathaniel Blackerby< no role > Gustavus Sheldon< no role > Esqr. [..]
of his Maties Justices of the peace for the said City and Libty houshing the state and
condition of the House of Correccon for this Libty for the reasons therein contained of
was amongst other things Ordered that the Sume of Sixty pounds should forthwith Assessed rated and
charged upon the Inhabitants of this Liberty (as usual in life cases) and that the
same should be forthwith Collected by the respective parishes in this City and Libty
proporconably as by the said Order was particularly expressed and that when the
said sume of Sixty pounds was so Assessed rated and collected, James Stedman< no role >
Gently High Constable of this Libty was thereby ordered to receive the same and
forthwith to pay the same over to Thomas Colthurst< no role > , Nathaniel Blackerby< no role > , and
Gustavus Sheldon< no role > Esqr or any two of them to the end that they or any two of them
might pay and discharge the several Workmen imployed in the repair of Bridewell
in this Libty the Monies thatshallshould appear to be justly due to them upon their contracts
and bills for the said Work and repair and other incident charges and the overplus
(if any was to be laid out in the further necessary repair of the said house of Correccon
or for other publick also of this Libty as the Court of Sessions should order and direct
now for good reasons shown to this Court His thought fit and ordered by this Court
that the putting the said order in execucon according to the direccons therein menconed
be suspended and that it be and it is hereby recomended and referred last to William
Cowper,

Libty inhabiting and residing in the parish of St. Margaret Westmr; in this Liberty or
any three of them to review the said house of Correccon and lake a particular amount
what repairs are necessary and wanting to be done in and about the same and to make
an estimate of the charges of such repairs and Report a State thereof to this Court before
the end of this present session to the end such further order may be made herein as
shall be just. And if any Moines are collected and paid to the said James Stedman< no role >
in pursuance of the said first recited Order the same are to remain in his hands upon
amount and not to be paid out to any person untill further order of this Court.
