the said Original Charter being then produced and read in Court
the said Harrogate thought proper to reject the said Allegation and
to Condemns Richard Leeson< no role > the Syndick in this Behalf for
the Corporation in Costs And that Thereupon by the Advice of
the said Doctor Paul and Doctor Hay an Appeal was inter-
posed and prosecuted before the Right Honble . Sr . George Lee< no role > Dean
of the Arches before whom the said Cause of Appeal came to be
heard on Monday the 22d Day of June last when after long and so-
lomns Arguments of Counsel on both sides the said Dean of the Arches
having fully considered the said Charter and the Allegation pleading
the Exemptions granted thereby and claimed against the Swearing
in of the said Church Wardens and considering Church Wardens as Parochial Officers whom
Parishoners Have a Right by Law to Elect and observing
that No Part of the Exemptions from Ecclesiastical Jurisdictions
hereby granted to the Church Did extend to the Office of Church
Warden the same not being mentioned therein He therefore
rejected the Allegation and affirmed the Decree appeal'd from &
condemn'd the said Syndick in Ten pounds Cost And as We
apprehend and are advised that the Distinction made by the said
Sr. George Lee between the Exemption granted by the said Charter
to the Church and Minister and the Exemptions Claimed
with Regard to the Office of Church Warden is just & founded
in Law. We therefore Conceive that it is most advisable for this
Corporation to acquiesee under this Determination relating to the
Church WardensBut we are advised and clearly of
Opinion that as the said Church & the Minister thereof are
exempted from any Ecclesiastical Visitation or Jurisdiction whatsoever
by the express Words of the Charter. This Corporation ought to
Oppose any Attempt which may be made at any future Time
to Subject the said Church or Minister to any Ecclesiastical
Jurisdiction or Visitation And to maintain to the utmost of
their Power the several Rights Priviledges & Exemptions
granted to this Corporation by their Royal Founder and
which they have hitherto quietly & uninterruptedly enjoyed

Gratuity to the
Reward

We taking Notice that Mr. Jonathan Welch< no role > the
Steward of this Hospital hath behaved himself diligently for the
year past do recommend it to this Court that he may have a Gratuity
of Ten Pounds paid him by Mr. Treasurer
