The Minutes of the last General
Court held the 12th of July last were read and approved

Subscriptions being recommended by
Mr President towards defraying the great Charge and
Expence of this Hospital

The Gentlemen after named were pleased
to subscribe the following Sums
Vizt.

John Payne< no role > Esqr 50..-..-
Stephen Skynner< no role > Esqr 100..-..-

Mr John Girle's
Resignation


Mr President acquainted the Court that
Mr John Girle< no role > one of the Surgeons of this Hospital
had resigned that Office

Then the Court proceeded to the choice of
a Surgeon in the Room of the said Mr Girle

And the Petitions of Mr Samuel Chandler< no role >
Mr Benjamin Cowell, Mr Richard Hamilton< no role > , Mr
John Sheron< no role > , Mr Thomas Smith< no role > and Mr John Taylor< no role >
were presented to this Court and read severally praying
to be admitted one of the Surgeons of this Hospital in the
room of the said Mr Girle. And being severally put in
Nomination it appeared that Mr Benjn. Cowell & Mr
Saml: Chandler had the Majority of hands

Chose & Surgeon .


Whereupon they were put up again & upon a
Division the Numbers were for Mr Cowell 119 & for
Mr Chandler 108. Whereupon Mr Benjamin Cowell
was declared to be duly chosen to the said Office to hold
the same with the usual Salary thereunto belonging during
the pleasure of the General Court, And he was called
in & acquainted with his Election
