Sir
It is near a month since Austin the Carpenter brot. his
Bill to the Counting House here, in order to have it Settled
I could not then be done, as it had not undergone the Exami-
nation of our Surveyor but He was told, that as soon as it
had [..] been Examined, that you would be write to [..] about
it. The Surveyor brought it back to me the other day, [..]
& tells me, that he can't make the Quanitty of Square in
the Stable arise from the Dimension there given, as you
will see by his remark, now this will not at all effect this
Hospital but your self, so that it highly concerns you to
look after it, to see that the Dimensions are rightly taken,
and the Quantities from thence arising, truly estimated.
When you are satisfied in this Respect, you may Settle
with him as soon as you shall think proper, To unable
You to do which, you have receive inclosed his Bill
payable to our late Treasurer Wm. Mount< no role > Esq . for £35.16.5½
wch. will be in part of the £60. allowed You towards the above,
& other Repairs, a Receipt for wch. you will send me by the
return of the post. Austin, seems to be impatient for his Money,
for about a week ago, a Gent. from Mr. Martin in Lombard to brot. a
Letter from Mr. Graves a Gent. in your Neighbourhood to him, wherein
he interests himself in favour of Austin, by Setting forth, the hardship
& inconveniencies he Labour disorder, in being kept out of his Money
so long, after the Work was done, I mention this by the way, not wth.
any intent to induce you to settle his Bill untill you an the wrightly
satisfied, of its being a just & honest me & she work will Executed
Therein of my Letter will be taken up with putting you in mind
of there being two years Rent due at Michs last and that there is
£190 due on accot. of the Fine wch. by your Agreemt. should have
been Pd. at Michs. 1760. You will I hope remit a considerable
part of both, & that in a very short time.
