Benjamin Charter< no role > of Women Street in the Parish of
Saint Pancrass in the County of Middlesex Gentleman maketh Oath
and Saith that in or about the Month of May last Past he this
Deponent was present at Mr. Sands in Great Russell Street in the parish
of Saint Giles in the Fields in the said County when he Hele the
District Surveyor Came upon Certain back buildings in Great
Russell Street aforesaid which premises were then undergoing a state
of Alteration and Repairs by the said Mr. Sands and that he the said
Mr. Sands requested the said John Hele in the presence of this Deponent
to Survey and due his duty as a surveyor of District and if there was
any matter or thing in or respecting the premises that requined any Alteration
the Workmen then employed by the said M Sands should immediately
do it but he the said Mr. Hele Positively refused to examine the said building
Although Standing in or about the Middle of A and said that until
the said Mr.Sands agreed to do whatever Mr. Abbett might require
Concerning the heighth of the Building [..] so that his the said Mr.
Abbotts window might be Clearly above the whole of the loof of the
said Building he the said John Hele< no role > would not as a Surveyor either
Aprove or disaprove of the Manner in which the said Building had
been so far Carried on or give any kind of direction how or in what
manner the same should be finished but treated said Mr. Sands
in a very Impertinent and Contemptions manner and told him the
would pay no regaid to what he said as the Notice or Applications
previously made by the said Mr.Sands Made not been in initing and
until that was done he would not attend as a District Survey or
or words that effect
