That in pursuance of a Summons under the hand and Seal of
Cranley Thomas Kerby< no role >
Esquire
one of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace
for the County of Middlesex
and also for the City and liberty of Westminster
in the said County, your Petitioner did on the twelfth day of June one
thousand seven hundred and ninety eight attend at the Public Office in Queen
Square
Westminster
to answer a Complaint and Information made before
the said Justice, whereby it was alledged that your Petitioner did after the
first day of August one thousand seven hundred and eighty five (to wit)
on the seventh day of the said Month of June at the Parish of Saint Martin
in the Fields
in the said County City and liberty being a person licensed to
keep a Stage Coach agreeable to an Act of Parliament passed in the twenty
fifth year of the Regin of his present Majesty Intituled an Act for repealing
the Duties on licenses taken out by persons letting Horses for the purpose of
travelling post and by time and on Stage Coaches and for granting other Duties
in lieu thereof and also additional Duties on Horses lett to hire for Travelling
Post and by time did at the said Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields in the
said County City and Liberty keep use and employ a certain Coach as a Public
Stage Coach for the purpose of conveying Passengers for hire to and from
different places within the Kingdom of Great Britain (to wit) to and from
Greenwich
in the County of Kent
to London without having marked or
painted or caused to be marked or painted on the outside pannel of each
Door of the said Coach before your Petitioner used the said Coach for the
purpose aforesaid your Petitioners Christian and Sir name contrary to the
Statute Etc.
That your Petitioner was convicted by the said Justices or by Henry James Pye< no role >

on other of the said Justices attending at the [..]
alledged in the said Summons as your Petitioner apprehends and the said
Justices or one of them did adjudge your Petitioner as he hath been informed Guilty of
the said Offence supposed to be committed by your Petitioner
