The Order of William Brodie< no role > and John Nares< no role >
Esquires two of his Majesty's Justices of
the Peace in and for the said County one whereof is
of the Quorum, and both residing next unto the Limits
of the Parish Church within the Parish of Saint Luke
in the said County
made the Thirteenth Day of February
in the year of our Lord One thousand seven
hundred and ninety Eight
concerning a female
Bastard Child, lately born in the said Parish of Saint
Luke in the County aforesaid, of the Body of
Ann Lloyd< no role > Single Woman .

WHEREAS it hath appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Complaint
of the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of
Saint Luke as upon the Oath of the said Ann Lloyd< no role >
that she the said Ann Lloyd< no role > on the Ninth Day of July
1795 now tall part, was delivered of a female Bastard Child, [..] in
New Street in the said Parish in the said
and that the said female Bastard Child islikely to be chargeable
and the said Parish of Saint Luke and further, that John Jeffries< no role >
of Mitchel Hart in the said Parish Law Grinder did beget the said
Bastard Child on the Body of her the said Ann Lloyd< no role > and whereas
the said John Jefferies< no role > now appears before us the said Justices in
order to make his defence to the said Charge but not having shown
any cause to the Contrary
We therefore, upon Examination of the Cause and Circumstance of the Premises, as
well upon the Oath of the said Ann Lloyd< no role > as otherwise, do hereby
adjudge him the said John Jefferies< no role > to be the reputed Father of the
said Bastard Child.

And thereupon we do order, as well for the better Relief of the said Parish of Saint
Luke as for the Sustentation and Relief of the said Bastard Child, that
the said John Jefferies< no role > shall and do forthwith, upon Notice of this our Order,
pay or cause it to be paid to the said Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
said Parish of Saint Luke or to some or one of them, the Sum, of Twelve Shillings
for and towards the Lying in of the said and the Main-
tenance of the said Bastard Child, to the Time of making this our Order.

And we do also hereby further order, that the said John Jefferies< no role > shall likewise
pay, or cause to be paid, to the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of Saint Luke for the Time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of
two Shillings Weekly and every Week from the Present Time, for and towards the
Keeping, Sustentation, and Maintenance of the said Bastard Child, for and during so long
Time as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Luke
And we do further order, that the said Shall also pay
or cause to be paid to the said Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
for the Time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of
Weekly and every Week so long as the said Bastard Child
shall be chargeable to the said in case she shall not nurse
and take care of the said Child hereself.

Given under our Hands and Seals the Day and Year first above written.
