Who being severally Sworn upon their Oaths say and
first the said Wm. Hewitt< no role >
for himself sayeth that upon
Sunday the 31st day of May last [..] eight of the clock in
the morning he had notice that a set fight between two Man
of the names of Kentslay and Pearce inhabitants of Turnham
Green
was to take place upon Turnham Green
Common in
the Parish of Acton
at Nine the same Morning upon which
he immediately gave notice to the other two informants and
also wrote to Samuel Wagg< no role >
Esqr at Acton
a Magistrate for
this County and so one Ma [..] a Constable of that Parishs
informing them of what was intended but neither saw nor
heard any thing from either of them upon the occasion That
the other informants William Wapshott< no role >
and Thomas Rogers< no role >
joind this informant very soon about half past nine when
they all went to the spot when they saw the above named two Men
were fighting and a great number of idle and disorderly
People to the amount of several hundreds assembled in a
[..] manner to see and to encourage them but from
the appearance and disposition of the [..] these informants
were apprehensive that some injury would have been done to
their persons had they attempted to put a stop to the fight
or to dispose the Mob wherefor they resolved to go round so
all the public Houses in Chiswick
Parish and did accordingly
go and direct every one of them to shut up their Houses and
not
