Middlesex to wit


James Allen< no role > of Brick Lane Old Street in the Parish of ST Luke
in the County of Middlesex Cordwainer maketh Oath and saith
that on the 9th day of April last he became bound in a Recognizance
before William Browne< no role > Esquire one of his Majesty's Justices of the
Peace for the County of Middlesex at the Public Office Worship Street
Shoreditch by the Order and Direction of the said Magistrate for the
Appearance of Abigail Allen< no role > his Daughter a Minor at the then
next General Quarter Session of the Peace for the said County to give
Evidence against one James Saunders< no role > for receiving a Piece of
Timber the Property of Joseph Rolfe< no role > knowing the same to be stolen
And this Deponent further saith that his said Daughter having before
that time kept the Company of Persons of bad Character and being
fearful of her absconding from his House this Deponent and his
Wife used their Endeavours to rustrain her from going away but
she nevertheless eloped form them on the 23rd. April prier to the
Commencement of the Sessions ended, although be used every means
in his Power to discover her. And this Deponent for the saith
that he attended at the Old Bailey upon the Trial of John Lett< no role > who
was indicted as the Principal in stealing the said Piece of
Timber, but acquitted thereof, and upon the Representation made
to the Court by Joseph Rolfe< no role > the Prosecutor, by this Deponents
Desire, that it was strongly Inspected that Deponents Daughter
had been decoyed away by the Friends of Lett, to prevent her
giving Evidence against him, the Court discharged this Deponents
Recognizance which he had entered into for her Appearance to give
Evidence against the said John Lett< no role > And this Deponent further
saith that in a day or two after the Trial of the said John Lett< no role >
and upon the said James Saunders< no role > being discharged his said
Daughter and asked the Reason of her so absconding she informed this
Deponent that the Mother of the said John Lett< no role > had promised to give her
a new Gown, if she would not appear against the Prisoners and that
by her Persuasions, she was taken to some Friends of the said John
Lett
< no role > at Dept ford where they had kept her till the Trial was ever
And this Deponent further saith that he is in every indigent
and
