Afft. for discharge of a Recogce.

Mr. Robert Mathews< no role > of Great Portland Street in the Parish of St. Mary Le
bone in the County of Middlesex Victualer Maketh Oath and Saith he
became bound in a Recogce. to prosecute the above named Predr. for felony
Stealing an Iron Jack Weight< no role > the property of this deponent. in the Sum
of Twenty Pounds to appear at April Sessions to behold at the Sessions
on Clerkenwell Green for the said CountyAnd further this
deponent upon his Oath Saith it was his sole intention of prosecuting
the said Prisoner [..] but was directed by one of the Runners
belonging to the Public Office in Poland Street , to let the business remain
in the then present state untill he heard from him which was to
attend the Session and inform him of the day, And further this
deponent saith the said person did not so inform him and being
a total stranger of the [..] nature of Recogces, and
not being so informed; he thought the business was the at
an End, and Rad he known how to proceed he wod. have
appeared and prosecuted has also saith he did not form
favor or affection suffer the prisr. to [..] escape to Justice
