To the Worshipful His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the
County of Middlesex in General Session of the Peace at the Sessions
House on Clerkenwell Green in the said County assembled

The humble Petition and Appeal of the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor
of the Parish of Saint James within the Liberty
of Westminster in the said County.

Sheweth


That by Virtue of an Order under the
Hands and Seals of Sir Sampson Wright< no role > Knight and
Thomas Gilbert< no role > Esquire two of His Majestys Justices of the
Peace acting in and for the City and Liberty of Westminster
aforesaid (one whereof being of the Quorum) bearing date the
Sixth Day of April last John< no role > a Male Bastard Child aged
Ten Weeks (therein said to be deserted by his Mother
Elizabeth Hughes< no role > Singlewoman ) was removed and conveyed
form the Parish of Saint Paul Covent Garden within the
said Liberty of Westminster to the said Parish of Saint
James as the place of his last legal Settlement whereby
you Petitioners conceive themselves to be aggrieved.

Your Petitioners therefore humbly Appeal
to this Court against the Adjudication of
the said two Justices and their said Order
and pray that your Worships will be
pleased to appoint a Day to hear and
determine the said Appeal

And Your Petitioners will ever pray Etc.
