of Saint Mary le bone in this County was found dead with his Throat
Cut The Beadle of the parish Thomas King< no role > was sent for and fetch'd
Mr. Umfreville the Coroner who came received the Body himself and
gave a written Order to the said King to Bury the body without
Inquisition thereon taken That said King conveyed the body to the
Court House at Mary bone and afterwards otherwise disposed of it
That Mr. Elliot conceives and from the Confession of King believes said
King received a Pecuniary Recompence for what he did in the premes
That King being asked by this Informant whether he was not
handsomely paid for the Trouble he had in the above affair acknowledge
he had received a pecuniary recompence but not so much as the
Coroner [..] It also appears by the Examination of

Thomas King< no role > of James Street< no role > Mary bone one of the
Beadles of the Parish of St Mary le bone attg was called in and informed the com that one Saturday in June or
July last this Informant was sent for to Mr. Edwins in Cumberland State
Sr Mary le bone went accordingly and saw Mr. Edwin who informed
him that Captain Pembroke an acquaintance ofhisMr. Edwins had been found
that Morning by his bed side with his Throat Cut Mr. Edwin asked
this Informant what was to be done who told him to send to the Coroner
immediately Mr. Edwin dischargedired this Informant to go for the Coroner
the Informant went to Mr Umfreville the Coroner at Turnham Green
he was not at home went to several other places but did not find him
and returned to Mr. Edwin Mr Edwin with others relations of the
deceased begged the Informant would endeavour again to see the
Coroner The next day Sunday Informant saw Mr. umfreville and
told him that a Captain Pembroke had destroyed himself by cutting his Throat
that there ever several Gentleman acquaintance and Relations of the deceased
had desiredmeInform to speak to him about the matter and to informhimthat they
would do any thing if he K Umfreville would grant a Warrant for the Interment
of the deceased without a Jury so that the affair might bot be noised about
in the Would that Mr. Edwin very much wanted the body out of his House that
theInformant as also Mr. Edwin had tied to get some person in the Neighbourhood
to receive the body but that no one would take it in That Informant would
with Mr. Umfrevilles leave remove or had already removed the body not being [..] within which to the Sealing
Office a place belonging to himselfnot being certain whichThat Mr. Umfreville
said Mr King you know your duty very will it is not the first time you have
done such a thing get the body prepared ready for a Jury if the matter is not
settled otherwisethisthat Informantthentold Mr. Umfreville that he would meet him
at the Sign of the General Wolfe in Oxford Road or at Mr Edwins the next
Morning at Ten o Clock to receive further directions The body was removed to
the Sealing office or place near the Court to that on the monday morning Mr. [..] to Mr Edwin House Mary le bone and afterwards to
