Minutes of the Committee appointed to carry into
immediate Execution the effectual Repair of New
Prison and the House of Correction

The Chairman produced a note from Sir Charles Whitworth< no role >
which is as foll: vizt. "Sir Charles Whitworth< no role > [..] presents
his Compliments to Sir John Hawkins< no role > , and is sorry to
inform him that the Goal Distemper is in Clerkenwell
Bridewell , Having sent yesterday to inquire after
a Boy who was bred up in this Hospital & put in Bride
-well by his Master for theft, And the Apothecary who
went to see him reported him very bad with me Goal
distemper upon no other allowance than one penny
per day. Sir Charles [..] thinks some care
ought to be taken to prevent the Spreading of the
Infection which he submits to Sir John."

Foundling Hospital
14th. June 1774

The Chairman acquainted the Committee that in
consequence of the above note he had directed
[..] The Clerk to summon the Member of the Committee in order that [..]
which and proper
acquires might be made into the truth of
the reportcontained in the note
