Minutes of a Committee appointed to carry
into immediate execution the effectual repair
of New Prison and Clerkenwell Bridewell .

Sir John Hawkins< no role > produced a note from Sir Charles Whitworth< no role >
which being read the same is as follows (vizt) Sir Charles Whitworth< no role >
presents his Compliments to Sir John Hawkins< no role > and is sorry to info [..]
him that the Goal distemper is in Clerkenwell Bridewell , Having
sent yesterday to enquire after a Boy who was bred up in this
Hospital and put in Bridewell by his Master for Theft And the
Apothecary who went to see him reported him very bad with the Goal
Distemper upon no other allowance than one penny per day
Sir Charles thinks some care ought to be taken to prevent the
spreading of the infection which he submits to Sir John.

Foundling Hospital
14th. June 1774.

It appears to this Committee that Mr. Mac lallan Apothecary
to the foundling Hospital is the Apothecary mentioned by Sir Charles
Whitworth
