Whereas it Appears to us two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
for the said County of Middlesex by the Oath of Thomas Bolton< no role > that he
the said Thomas Bolton< no role > was bound in one Recognizance together with
Jane< no role > wife of Charles Crew< no role > and Mary< no role > wife of Peter Pilborow< no role > the said
Jane to Prefers a Bill of Indictment against Eleanor Crowing< no role > in
september session last and the said Mary and the said Thomas Bolton
to give Evidence thereon for Stealing a washing Tubb the property of the
Charles Crew Value Ten pence And the said Thomas Bolton being quite
Ignorant and Unacquainted with the nature of Presecutions of this Kind And
at it was not stole from him thought no far ther of it but expected it there
was a Bill to be found that the said Jane or her Husband would take care
to prefer the same and give him the said Thomas Bolton Notice when
the said Eleanor Crowing was to be Tried, as he afterwards Apprehended
she the said Jane or her Husband had done for on the Friday in the-
session week she the said Jane called on the said Thomas Bolton< no role > and-
Desired him to go with her to Hicks Hall to Know when the said Eleanor
bowing was to be Tried which he very readily and willingly did and when they
came there she the said Jane sayd she would go and Ask And accordingly-
went to one of the Little offices Just within the Gate and when she returned
she sayd they must Attend the next Morning by Nine of the Clock being
Saturday which they accordingly did and when they came there they found
the said Eleanor Cowing was discharged for want of prosecution and then,
was informed it was for went of a Bill of Indictment being found against
her and that it was not though any wilfull neglect or partiality that
he did not preferr a Bill against the said Eleanor Cowing but intirely thre'
Ignorance and for the reasons aforesaid These are therefore to Authorize
and require you to respite and for bear Estreting into his Majesty's Court
of Exchequer the Recognizance wherein the said Thomas Boltom stands-
bound to give Evidence against the said Eleanor Cowing as above receted
so for as relates to the said Thomas Bolton< no role > and for your so doing this shall
be your sufficient Warrant Given under our hands this 30thday of
November 1767.
