At the General Session of the Peace of our Lord the King holden for
the County of Middlesex at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street in
the said County (by Adjournment on) Thursday the Nineteenth Day of
Octoberin the Ninth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord
George third King of Great Britain Etc Before John Hawkins< no role > Esqr.
Sir Thomas Robinson< no role > Baronet Bartholomew Hammond< no role > , Thomas Niccoll< no role >
Esquires and others their fellows Justices of our said Lord the King
Assigned to Keep the Peace in the County aforesaid and also to hear and
determine divers feloniesTrespasses and other Misdemeanors
committed in the Same County

Whereas Thomas Shackly< no role > of Uxbridge in the said County Warrener Hath at this
Present Session Exhibited his Humble Petition Setting forth that the Petitioner on or about
the Thirty first day of July last was Served with an Order of Bastardy under the hands
and Seals Abel Aldridge< no role > and Thomas Fellows< no role > Esquires Two of his Majestys Justices of the
Peace for the said County Stating that Martha Lawrence< no role > Singlewoman had on the 12th
day of April last been delivered of a Female Bastard Child at Uxbridge in the said County.
Baptized by the name of Anne< no role > which was become chargeable to the said Town and that the said
two Justices had Adjudged the Petitioner to be the reputed Father thereof. And therefore Ordered
for the relief of the said Town and Maintenance of the said Bastard Child that the Petitioner
should on Notice thereof pay to the Chapel Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Town
of Uxbridge the Sum of Two pounds and Nine shillings for and towards the Maintenance
of the said Female Bastard Child to the time of making the said Order and also to pay the
Sum of One Shilling and Sixpence weekly from that time for and towards the Maintenance
and Relief of the said Bastard Child so long as the said Bastard Child should be chargeable
to the said Town of Uxbridge Whereby the Petitioner thought himself Aggrieved by the said
Order and thereby praying that the said Order of Adjudication of the said Justices might
be Quashed and the Petitioner discharged there from New upon hearing of Council on
behalf of the Petitioner And by consent of Council on behalf of the Chapel Wardens and
Overseers of the Town of Uxbridge. It is Ordered that the said Petition be and the same
is hereby Allowed And the said Ordred of Adjudication of the said two Justices
be and the same is hereby Quashed accordingly
