The King against John Morris< no role > and Margaret< no role > his Wife
and others on the prosecution of panaysty Mallachey
for a Riott

Peter Nott< no role > . of the parish of Saint James Westminster and County
of Middlesex late a Servant to Patrick Wood< no role > Esquire Deceased maketh Oath and Saith That he
this Deponent. Did at the request of the prosecutor on Tuesday
the 7th. day of this Instant January Go to the Defendant John
[..] who keeps the Sign of the Ship Ale house in
Carnaby Street and did desire One William Popplewell< no role > to go along
with him to the said John Morris< no role > 's House and told the said
William Popplewell< no role > that he this Deponent wanted to know
if the Defendant Margaret Morris< no role > was Sick (he the said
William Popplewell< no role > knowing her very well by frequenting
the said House) And at this Deponents and said William
Popplewell
< no role > 's Coming into the Tap room of the said Defendant
John Morris< no role > 's House this Deponent Called for a pint of Beer and
the said William popplewell< no role > Spoke to a Woman in the Room
and said how do you do Mrs. Morris Who Answered Indifferently
and During their Stay in the said Room which was near half
an hour she Walked about the Room and acted as Landlady
and received the Reckoning of this Deponent And this
Deponent further Saith That he this Deponent did on the
Eighth day of this Instant January Go to the said Defendants
House about Seven of the Clock in the Evening and Called for a
pint of Beer and Saw the Same Woman there again and
Called for a pint of Beer and Staid there
Whilst this Deponent and a Friend Drank the Beer in the
said House and the said Mrs. Morris again received the
reckoning And this Deponent Lastly Saith That at both the
said Times he was at the said Defendant John Morris< no role > 's
House she the said Mrs. Morris did not at all appear Sickley
but acted in the Capacity of a Landlady in the said House
