Matthew Cox< no role > of the Parish of Ealing Otherwise Zealing in the
County of Middx Malster Maketh Oath and saith that he this Dept.
on the 27th. day of September which was in the our Lord 1753 was at the
House of one Mr: Goddard who keeps an Inn at Cranford Bridge near
Hounslow Heath in the County Aforesaid where he this Dept.
Dined & continued great part of the Day during which time one
of the Reading Stage Coaches come into the said Inn and this Dept.
was then & there Informd a person unknown to this Dept. that
a Man & Woman in a one Horse Chaise had a little before then been
Robbed on Hounslow Heath and that the young fellow there
(pointing to a Young fellow then standing in the Inn Yard whose
name afterwards Appeared to be Geo: Hiller was the person who
had committed the said Robbery) Whereupon this Dept. & some
others then present immediately Seized the said Geo: Hiller &
carried him before Rd: Bulstrode< no role > Esqr one of his Majties: Justices
of the Peace of the County aforesaid who Committed the said George
Hillier to goal from whence he was Discharged at the then next
Goal Delivery of Newgate holden for the County aforesaid for
want of prosecution as this Dept. was Afterwards Informd
& verily believes the same to be true and this Dept saith that no
person or persons then or at any time since to the knowledge of
this Dept: Appeared before the said Justice to give any Informa-
tion touching his her or their having been Robbed by the said
Geo: Hillier< no role > nor did the said Geo: Hillier< no role > then or at any time
since make any Confession touching the same to the Knowledge
of this Deft. and this Dept. further saith that he was to his great
Surprise Inform'd & believes such Information to be true that the
said Mr: Bulstrode had Certified & Returnd a Recognizance this [..]
