William Hallam< no role > of the Parish of White Chapple in the County
of Middlesex Gentleman Maketh Oath That about fourteen Years since
he this Deponent intending to Erect a Building or House since known by
the Name of Goodmans Fields Wells applyed to Richard Ricards< no role > Esqr.
& several other of his Majesties Justices of the Peace for the County of
Middlesex acting for the Tower Division in order for their Leave to Erect
the same And the sd. Richard Ricards & divers others of his Majestys
Justices assented thereto And this Deponent apprehehending that such
Assent was sufficient did lay out & expend the Sume of Our Thousand
five Hundred Pounds being the whole of this Deponents Substance in
Erecting & fitting up the said House & all Materials relating
thereto And this Deponent further Saith that he for several Years
did carryon the Business of the sd. Wells without any Interruption
from the Justices & without any Complaint from the Neighbourhood

(to this Deponent Knowledge & Belief) And This Deponent further Saith
that about three Years ago this Deponent had a Dispute with the said
Richard Ricards about the Payment of Six Shillings a Week for the use
of a Way Whereupon the sd. Richard Ricards conceived a Displeasure at
this Deponent And this Deponent doth verily believe that the sd. Richard
Ricards hath been in Conjunction with Boulton Mainwaring< no role > Esquire
another Justice of the Peace for the sd. County & acting for the said
Tower Division greatly Instrumental in Causing a Representation

to be made to the Right Honourable the Lord High Chancellour of
Great Britain against Sir Samuel Gower< no role > This name instance is in set 3163. Knight one other of his
Majesties Justices of the Peace for the sd. County & acting for the Division
aforesaid out of Pigne to this Deponent to whom the said Six
Samuel Gower< no role > This name instance is in set 3164. is Landlord And this Depont. further Saith that before
such Dispute happened the sd. Richard Ricards was frequently present
at the Exhibitting of Entertainments at Goodmans Fields Wells
aforesaid & never shewed or expressed any dislike thereto or

known the said Sr. Samuel Gower< no role > This name instance is in set 3163. for fourteen years last past &
verify believes the said Sir Samuel Gower< no role > to be a Gentleman
