To His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of
Middlesex in their General Quarter Sessions Assembled.

The humble Petition and Appeal of sevt.
of the Inhabitants of the Parish of Chelsea ,
in the County of Middx , whose Names are
hereunto Subscribed, on behalf of Themselves
and divers other Inhabitants of the said
Parish.

Sheweth,


That a Rate hath been lately made by the Church-
Wardens & Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Chelsea ,
upon the Inhabitants and Occupiers of Lands, Houses, & Tithes,
in the same Parish for the Relief of the Poor thereof, (being
the Second Rate made and Confirmd. for the year 1747) which,
in part, is Unequal, and Unjust, for that Mr. Claude Bennett< no role > ,
Mrs. Selden, Mrs. Martha Windham Ash< no role > , and Peter Eley< no role >
Esqr . who are Persons of Great Susbtance and Ability, are Under-
Charged in the said Rate, tho' other Inhabitants of the said
Parish, are Rated to the Value of their respective Holdings.

That your Petitioners are very much Aggreived by the
aforesd. Rate, and humbly Appeal to this Court against ye same.

And pray that the said Poors Rate
may be produced before this Court, at such
time as the Court shall be pleased appoint,
for the hearing & determining the Matter
of the sd. Appeal.And that Your Peticonrs.
may have such Relief therein, as to Your
Worship's shall seem meet

And Your Petitioners shall pray Etc.
