Whereas Catherine Nicholls< no role > of the Parish of Christ Church in the County aforesaid Widdow was on the
20th. Day of March last past Delivered of a Male Bastard Child in Spittallfields Markett in the Parish of
Christ Church aforesaid who was Baptized by the Name of William< no role > and is now liveing and is chargeable
To the said Parish & is likely To continue so We whose Hands & Seals are hereunto Sett Two of his
Majesty's Justices of the peace for the said County of Middx (One being of the Quorum) and both
Dwelling in the said County haveing upon the Complaint of the Church Wardens and Overseers of the
poor of the said Parish Taken Upon Us the hearing and Examination of the said Cause Do find
by the Examination of the saidCatherine Nicholls Cause Do findeby the Examination of the
[..] Catherine Nicholls Taken Before Us upon Oath & other Proofs & Circumstances That
One William Fitts< no role > of the Parish of Christ Church aforesaid in the County aforesaid Fruiterer
is the Reputed Father of the said Male Bastard Child Whereupon We Adjudge That he the
said William Fitts< no role > is the Reputed Father of the said Male Bastard Child And We Do
Order That he the said William Fitts< no role > shall on sight of this Our Order Pay or Cause To be
Paid Unto the Churchwardens or Overseers of the poor of the said Parish [..] the sum
of Eight Shillings of Law full money of Great Britain so much being by them [..]
Expended & Disbursed for & towards the charge Ariseing by the said Male Bastard Child
being Born in the said Parish & for other necessary Expences Occasioned thereby And
That he the said William Fitts the Reputed Father shall also Weekly & every Week
from & after the Date hereof (So long as the said Male Bastard Child shall be chargeable
to the said Parish) Pay or Cause To be paid Unto the Church Wardens & Overseers of
Poor of the said Parishor One of them the sum of Two Shillings & Six Pence of like Law full
money of Great Britain For & towards the Maintenance Keeping & Education of the
said Male Bastard Child Given Under Our Hands & Seals the 4th. Day of Sepr.
1747 .
