At the General Quarter Session of the peace of our Sovereign Lord the
King holden for the County of Middx at Hicks hall inst. John street in the
County aforesaid by adjornment on Monday the Seventh day of December
in the twenty first year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the Second
King of Great Britain Etc before Thomas Lane< no role > Esqr. Sr. Edward Lawrence< no role > Knt.
Samuel Tatem< no role > Thomas Moore< no role > Francis Hole< no role > John Lawton< no role > Esquires and
other their Fellows Justices of our said Lord the King assigned to keep the
Pence in the County aforesaid and all to hear & determine divers felonys
trespasses & other Misdeeds committed in the same County.
The appeal of Mr Henry Meriton< no role > Mr Alexander Small< no role > Mr Vere Warner< no role > Mr Claude
Bennet
< no role > & Mrs. Jane [..] Luceara< no role > on behalf of themselves & divers other Inhabitants
of the parish of Chelsea in the County of Middx being appointed to be
heard on this Seventh day of December instant against a Rate made
for [..] releif of the poor of the said Parish which appeal set Forthcomplainingthat the said
Rate is unequall and oppressive [..] For that several Inhabitants
of great substance are undercharged and several other Inhabitants
of [..] less circumstance are over assessed and several other Inhitants
of considerable ability are not assessed [..] left out of the said Rate, And
Councel on both sides now attending [..] this Court
and the said Poors, Rate being now produced This Court uponhearing
of what was alledged by the [..] on both side
examination into the
Premisses and on hearing of what was alledged by the Councel in both sides
is of Opinion And doth Order that the and poors Rate be altered [..] with to wit [..] that several persons [..] not assessed in the said
Rate but omitted out of the same(to wit) [..] is to say Mr. Robert Samman< no role > & Mr. Geo: woodhatch< no role > present
Ovrseers of the poor of the [..] PishMr. John Holmes< no role > the Vestry Clerk and
said Poors Andrew Banton< no role > the Parish Clerk of the said Parish be assessed in the
said Poors Rate towards releif of the poor of the said parish(to wit)with respect to the Yearly rent of the Estates by them [..] yed as followeth And [..]
further Ordered that the [..] ments upon several other personsch hereafter named
herein after named who at are assessed in the said Rate be altered And that
they be assessed therein towards the releif of the poor with respect to the Yearly
rent oftheir Estatethe Estates by them occupyed as followeth, to wit,

And with the above mentioned alterations the Poor Rate above mentioned [..] is to
stand confirmed and is hereby confirmed accordingly, And the said
alterations are to be [..] [..] bottom of the said Rate
by way of appeadix under nenth or at the [..] end of the said Rate,
