Midlx to Wit


We whose Hands and Seals are Hereunto Sett two of His Majesty's Justices of the
Peace for the County of Middlx (Quorum Unus) Inhabitants or near the Limitts of the
Parish Church of the Parish of Lampton in the sd. County of Middx : Having met together
and heard the Complaint of the Church Wardens Overseers of the Poor Concerning a Female
Bastard Child born in the said parish on the Body of Elizabeth Hawkins< no role > on or about the
second day of October One Thousand seven Hundred and Thirty three wch. was since
Baptized Susanna < no role > And hath [..] er since the birth thereof been Chargeable to the sd. Parish
and is so likely to Continue, and finding upon Examination of the sd. Elizabeth Hawkins< no role >
taken before Us upon Oath that Thomas I field< no role > of the Parish of Ewell in the County of
Jurrey Cheesmonger did beget or the Body of Her the sd. Elizabeth Hawkins< no role > the said
Female Bastard Child. Therefore We the sd. Justices did cause the sd. Thomas I field
to be Summoned before Us to shew cause why he should not Be Adjudged the Reputed
Father of the sd. Female Bastard Child, And Whereas the sd. Thomas I field Did not
appear nor shew any Cause to the Contrary WE the sd. Justices do upon Examination
of the sd. Elizabeth Hawkins< no role > upon Oath as aforesd. and other Circumstances adjudge him
the sd. Thomas I field the Putative Father of the sd. Female Bastard Child And Do
Order and appoint him the sd. Thomas I field forthwith upon Notice of this Our Order
to Pay to the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish or to some or
One of them the Sum of forty Shillings of Lawfull money of Great Britain for
Reliefe of the sd. Female Bastard Child for the frist four Weeks after the Birth thereof
and for the Charge of Her the sd. Elizabeth Hawkins< no role > 's Lying-in And also that He
the sd. Thomas I field shall Weekly and every Week afterwards pay to the sd. Church
Wardens and Overseers of the Poor or to some or one of then the Sum of two Shillings
and Six pence for and towards the Reliefe and Maintainance of the said Female
Bastard Child for so long time as the sd. Female Bastard Child shall have been and
Remain Chargeable to the sd. Parish, And that he shall of and from the Charge of the
said Bastard Child at all times hereafter save harmless and Indempnifie the said
Parish of Hampton and Give sufficient Security for performance of this Our Order
or to appear at the next General or Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be holden for
the sd. County to Abide such Order as by the Court shall of the Peace to be holden for
Given under Our Hands & Seals the Tenth day of January in the Eighth Year
of this Present Majesty King George the Seconds Reign and in the Year of Our Lord
One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty four
