Whereas Lucrecia Wharton< no role > Widow , was on the 16th: day of March [..] 1723 delivered
of a Male Bastard Child (since named James< no role > ) at the House of Thomas Babbington< no role >
in Long Alley in the Parish of St: Leonard Shoredich in the County of Midlx : [mark]
Clogmaker , which sd: Male Bastard Child, has been, nowis, and is Stil Likely to
be Chargeable to the sd: Parish Wee Whose hands and Seals are hereuno Set, Two
of his Majties: Justices of the peace for the sd: County (Quor uns) and both residing
in or next the Limits of the Parish Church of the sd: Parish (where the sd: Male
Bastard Child was born) having upon the Complaint of the Churchwardens and
Overseers of the poor of the sd: Parish taken upon us, the hearing and Examina-
-con of the sd: cause, do find by the Examinacon of the sd: Lucrecia Wharton< no role > taken
upon Oath and other proofs and Circumstances that Edward Prince< no role > of the
Parish of St: Giles without Cripplegate in the sd: County Clogmaker , is the onely
true and reputed of the sd: Male Bastard Child Whereupon wee do Order
and Adjudge that he the sd: Edward Prince< no role > is the reputed Father of the
sd: Male Bastard Child, and wee do further Order tha he the sd: Edward
Prince
< no role > the reputed Father of the sd: Male Bastard Child, Shall on Sight of this our
Order pay or cause to be paid into the hands of the Churchwardens & Overseers
of the poor of the sd: Parish aforesd: or to Some or one of them the sum of
One pound Four Shillings & Five pence of Lawful mony of Great
Brittain So much being by them already Eppended and Disbursed for
and towards the Charge arising by the sd: Bastard Childs being born in the said
Parish as aforesd: and for other Necessary Expences Occasioned thereby And
that he the sd: Edward Prince< no role > Shall also weekly and every week from and
after the Date hereof (so Long as the sd: Bastard Child Shall be Chargeable
to the sd: Parish) pay or cause to be paid to the Churchwardens and Overseers
of the poor of the sd: Parish, or to Some or one of them the Sum of Two Shillings
and Six pence of like Lawful mony for and towards the Maintenance Keeping
and Educacon of the sd: Bastard Child Given under our hands and Seals
