Whereas John Snow< no role > one of the Officers of his Majestys
Customs in the post of London did lately exhibite an
Informacon before me one of his Majestys Justices of the
peace for the sd. County agt. Francis Sirr< no role > This name instance is in set 3580. of the parish of St.
Clements Danes for that the sd. Francis Sirr< no role > This name instance is in set 3580. did on the fifteenth
day of Augt. last past receive into his Custody at his house behind
St. Clements a pcell of Rice that had been clandestinely run
on Shore with out payment of Customs he the sd. Sirr knowing
the same to be clandestinely run And Whereas the sd. Francis
Sirr was duely sumoned to appear before me to Answer and make
his defence to the sd. Informacon at the time and place in the
said sumons appointed and the sd. Francis Sirr< no role > This name instance is in set 3580. having
appeared accordingly and upon hearing James Reynolds< no role >
upon Oath on behalfe of the sd. John Snow< no role > who deposed that
at the time of seizing the sd. Rice the sd Sirr Confessed he caused the same
to be brought from on board a Ship without payment of
Duty and likewise the sd. Francis Sirr who also confessed before
me that he did on the sd. 15th day of Augt . receive in to his
Custody two hundred and three qrs. of Rice which he had
caused to be clandestinely imported contrary to Law
I therefore according to the forme of the Statute made in
the seventh year of the Reigne of his prsent Majesty
Intituled an Act for repealing an Act made in the ninth
year of the Reigne of her late Majesty Queen Anne
Intituled an Act to oblige Ships coming from places
infected more effectually to pform their Quarentine And
for the bettr. prventing the plague being brought from
Forreigne Parts into Great Britaine or Ireland or the Isles
of Guernsey Jersey Aldering Sarbor or Man and to hinder
the Spreading of Infeccon Do hereby adjudge and Convict
the sd. Francis Sirr as Guilty knowingly of the Offence
aforesd. whereby he hath forfeited the sume of ten pounds
one Moyety thereof to the sd. John Snow< no role > and the other
