any contracts or Agreements in writing or any Memorandam of any a [..] mt made [..]
any of the said Surveyors or by Mr. Norris with any person or persons for ditching by this
rod wherein yor. Comittee apprehend your Said Surveyors ought to have bin very pt [..]
in regard wee find by the Accounts of the said Surveyors So great a disproporcon be [..]
rates paid for Some Ditching & the rates paid for other Ditching in the same sort of Soil
as pt [..] serly from Islington to halfway house there is no more charg'd then 2s. P rod
from the same half way house to holloway there is charge 3s.6d. P rod & from
lower holloway on the one Side to the Cross Ditch on the other there is charged 4s
P rod & yet it does not appear to us by any contract made with the psons who
under took the whole that there was any difference made as to the width depth
or other dimencons of the said respective Ditches altho' the price for doing there [..]
is So widely different & wee conceive that not only the depth & the width at top [..]
and bottom but the manner of Sloping on each Side Should have bin p [..]
Agreed upon in their severall contracts which wee Submitt the Considracon
of the Trustees that [..] taken there [..]
werenew made Ditches & other Ditches that have been enlarg [..] the [..]
roads belonging to the Turnpike being humbled in, & some of those [..]
enlarged made much worse then at the first.

Wee Do further take notice upon Examineing of these Accts. That the [..]
take upon themselves not only to certify for Ballast & Gravell & Tea [..]
they are impowred to do by Order of the Generall meeting of the Trustees)
But also for Carpenters Bricklayers & other Artificers work in anspp & make [..]
for which they have no Authority by any Order of the generall meeting and of w [..]
wee take them to be very unfitt Judges and therefore Submitt it [..]
direccon of the Trustees whether (atleast for the future) the [..]
Sort ought not to be referred to proper Artists in these respect
make A [..] con thereof where no certain Agreemt. is made, & to con [..]
done with the p [..] ters of the contract where any certain Agree [..]
whereas there have been & here after may happen to be Bricklay
done under grownd which ought to have been admeasured before
Wee submitt it to the Trustees in generall what proper con [..]
for ad me valuacon of what is already done & covered & [..]
