December 1799.

"New one being now uninhabited the frequent calls
"I have to the Prison in the Night as well as the
"Day requiring me to reside on the spot in Order
"to enable me the better to fulfill the Duty of my
"Office as Surgeon and Apothecary to the Prison
"presume to Solicit your permission to Occupy
"that House and tho' it is in want of Repair I
"will not ask the County for any part of the Cost
"attending thereon but will do the necessary
"repairs at my own Expence, I have the Honor
"to remain Gentlemen

"Yr. most Obedient & Devoted Servt.
"Thos; Webb< no role > , 27th. November 1799."

And having heard what Mr.. Webb had to
say in support of his Application your Committee
recommend it to the Court to comply with Mr.. Webbs
request and to Allow him to Occupy the promises during
the pleasure of the Court.

And the said Committee further Report That
Mr.. Webb the Surgeon and Apothecary to the Prisons
attended and stated that Since the last Meeting of
Your Committee several of the Female Prisoners had
been ill with Putrid Fevers that only b. remained
then under Cure and that 5. of them were in a
Convalescent state, that he had Caused the Apartment
occupied by the Sick to be fumigated and that the
Prison was more healthy and that none of the
Prisoners had Died of that complaint

And the said Committee Lastly Report
That the Average number of Prisoners in the House
of Correction since the last Session amounts to 250.

All which the Committee Submit Etc.

Resolved That the said Report be received and
Confirmed and that Mr.. Webb the Apothecary to the Prisons
be permitted to occupy the House late in the possession
of Mr.. Aris during the pleasure of the Court.
