"Seamen, He also added that the Stone was now arrived and
"unloading in the River; and the Committee having considered the
"same and feeling great dissatisfaction from Mr Hopcrafts defence of
"himself Resolved that it be represented to the Court that he has
"conducted the work in no respect agreeably to his Contract and in such
"a dilatory manner as to require the interference of the Magistrates in
"Session assembled.

"Resolved that the Committee further Recommend that
"the Contractor for the Masons work should be proceeded against upon
"the panel part of his Contract in order to compel the due and just
"Performance of it."

And the Contract with the Said Mr Hopcraft for the Masons
work being also Read, Mr Hopcraft was called in and informed by
the Chairman of the great inconvenience attending his delay.

Mr Hopcraft alledged that the delay was owing entirely
to his not being able to procure the Stone faster from the Quarrys and
produced a Letter from Messrs. Chinchens the Proprietors of the Quarry to
that Effect and having heard what further he had to alledge.

Resolved that Mr. Rogers the County Surveyor be desired
to go to the Quarries at Swannage to view the same and to see in
what forwardness the said Stone now is and to make himself
compleatly master of the present state of the said Quarries and that
the further consideration of this business be adjourned until after Mr.
Rogers shall make his Report thereon.

By Adjournment same day.

Mr. Adams the Contractor for conveying Vagrants in
through and out of this County laid before the Court a Petition and the
same being Read as follows Vizt.

To the Worshipful William Mainwaring< no role > Esquire the Chairman
and the rest of His Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of
Middlesex in their General Session of the Peace held for the said
County in the Month of May 1790 Assembled.
