April 1786

Resolved that the said Committee be instructed to omit
the Chevaux de Frize.

Resolved that it be an Instruction to the said Committee
to provide for covering the Roof with Slates.

Resolved that it be an Instruction to the said Committee
to omit or reduce the facia where it can be done with safety to the Building

Resolved that it be recommended to the Committee to
consider how and of what Materials it would be most adviseable to Construct
the Inner Fence round the several Courts of the said House of Correction

Resolved that the Committee be impowered to made out
particulars and receive proposals for building the foundation of the said
House of Correction to a certain Level by measure and prices and the rest
of the Building for a specific Sum for the different Works or for the whole
and that they take the necessary measures for obtaining Proposals for
that purpose

Read the Entry in February Session last respecting the Petition ordered to be
presented to the House of Commons for Leave to bring in a Bill to Enable his
Majestys Justices of the Peace to raise Money for Building the said House of
Correction - And Reported that a Petition had been prepared
with a View of obtaining some allowance of Publick Money towards the
Expence of the said Building, and that he had applied to Mr. Pitt to give his
Majesty's Consent to the same, it being necessary to have the Minister's
Consent on Behalf of his Majesty before Petitions for Publick Money can be
received by the House of Commons, but Mr Pitt having after Consideration
declined to give his Majestys Consent to the same A Petition therefore
in the Common Form had been presented to the House and received - And the
Bill was prepared but had not yet been presented to the House of Commons.

Resolved that the same be presented to the House of
Commons and carried through the same and that Mr. Chairman be requested
to give his Assistance for that purpose
