part of the prison and since made use of for the purpose of wetting
and preparing the Oakum might again be conveniently thrown
into the Mens part of the prison Your Committee ordered the
same to be immediately done as a means of remedying the
evil complained of

All which the Committee Submit Etc

Report confirmed}

A Motion was made that the said Report be confirmed
and the same being agreed to It is Ordered that the said Report
be and the same is hereby ratified and confirmed accordingly.

The Report made by the Chairman of the Sessions of
the peace for this County in December Session last being called for
and Read as follows.

"Mr Chairman who was at the last Session of the
peace holden for this County appointed to examine and inspect the
Houses of Correction within the Jurisdiction of this Court Reported
that he had examined and inspected the House of Correction at
Clerkenwell that the same is in a deplorable state the building
being very inconvenient and much decayed that it is necessary
"some alteration should be made and that there is sufficient roo [..]
"to make additions to the present building for the confinement [..]
"punishment of prisoners according to Law provided the Garden
"Ground behind the Quakers Workhouse and which Ground the
"Body of Quakers hold under Lease from his Majestys Justices of
"the peace for this County could be obtained".

Bridewell and the
necessity of some altern.

It was Moved that so much of the said Report
as states the Building of Clerkenwell Bridewell to be in a
deplorable state and very inconvenient and much decayed and
that it is necessary some alteration should be made: be confirmed
and that this Court do adjourn the consideration of the remains
of the said Report Which Motion being agreed to the same was
ordered accordingly.
