Work in addition to or reparation of the Buildings under their respective
Care or in or about any matter or thing thereto belonging but by direction
of this Committee or under an order in Writing to be subscribed by the
Chairman of the Sessions or the Reverend Sir George Booth< no role > Bart . he
residing near to the said Buildings which order is not to be given
unless the Surveyor shall Certify under his Hand the necessity for
such Work and the probable amount of the Expences of performing the
same It is the further Opinion of the Committee that the Fetters
made use of by the Keepers of New Prison and Clerkenwell Bridewell
for the Security of their Prisoners ought not to be provided or repaired at
the Expence of the County And the Committee directed Mr. Rogers the
Countys Surveyor to take an exact account of all the Fetters now
belonging to the County in New Prison in respect to Weight Number
and Description and make an Inventory thereof and do also mark
the said Fetters numerically correspondent with such Inventory

A Motion was made that in the first Opinion of the Committee
these Words Vizt. "the probable amount of" be left out which being
carried in the Affirmative. It Was moved to insert the word "that"
in the place of the words so left out which was also agreed to A
Motion was likewise made that at the End of the said first Opinion of
the Committee the words "will not exceed Five Pounds" be added
and the same was agreed to. A Motion was also made that at the
End of the second Opinion of the Committee the words "in future" be
added which being agreed to A Motion was made that so much of the
said Report as is above recited amended as aforesaid be confirmed and
the same being carried in the Affirmative. It is Ordered that such
part of the said Report amended as aforesaid be confirmed and the
same is hereby ratified and confirmed accordingly.

The second Article of the said Report being now read as follows Vizt.

And the said Committee further Report that having
taken into Consideration the order of Referrence to this Committee made in
January Session last Vizt. To examine what damage had been done to
the Roofs of the Houses adjoining New Prison belonging to one Mr Sharp
by the escape of some Prisoners out of New Prison and whether the Wall
of the said Prison near the said Houses right to be raised lowered or
altered to prevent the Escape of Prisoners in future Your Committee
directed Mr. Rogers to view the Roofs of the Houses adjoining New
Prison belonging to Mr. Sharp and report at their next Meeting if any
and what damage appears to have been done thereto by the Prioners
