Order for making the Court
at Hicks hall more
commodious & warm for
the Winter half year,
And to contract with
workmen Etc}

Whereas Nathaniel Blackerby< no role > Esqr . Sd. William Ogborne< no role > Knt.
Nicholas Jeffreys< no role > Thomas Pindar< no role > Alexander Garrett Anthony
Chamberlain Richard< no role > Farmer & Robert Tothill< no role > Esqrs . eight of the
Comittee of his Maties Justices of the peace of this County (three
of them being a Quorum) appointed amongst others by an
Order of Sessions in June 1733 to See if Hicks Hall is out of
repaire, and if any and what repaires are wanting to be done,
And by another Order of Sessions in August last to appoint
a proper Surveyor to See and consider how the Said Hall
may be made more commodious & warm for the winter
halfe yeare, and what the expence thereof may amount
unto, have by their Report in writing this day certifyed unto
this Court That they have not as yet proceededunto this Court
That they have not as yet
on the Order of June Sessions 1733,
but deferred the consideration thereof to a Subsequent Meeting
in regard Mr. Bromley the Housekeeper (on whose petition the
said Order was made and granted) did not attend the said
Committee to make out the allegations of the Same, But
That in pursuance of the Order made in August last they
appointed Nicholas Hawksmoore< no role > Esqr . to take a Survey of
the Court of Hicks Hall and to consider how the Same
might be made more commodious & warm, who after
having Surveyed the Court, the Area, and Offices, attended
the Said Comittee with a Design for altering the Same So as
to answer the purposes aforesaid, Which Design together
with an estimate of the charge of doing the Same they
annexed to the Said Report, and which the Said Comittee do
approve of and are of opinion that the Same is proper & fit
to be done, And that the said Comittee do not think themselves
proper Judges of the Jacksmiths Bill, but think the Sum of
nine pounds & nine Shillings Should be paid for it, if Mr
Barker agreed for it at that price, as is alledged on the
Jacksmiths delivering the old one, So Small a triffle as three
Shillings only being allowed for the Same, And that the said
Comittee are of opinion that the proposed alteration at the
Court may be paid for out of the Colt money being the
proper moneys of the Justices and the County no ways
concerned in the application thereof, as by the Said Report
relation being thereunto had may fully appeare, This
Court upon taking the Said Report into consideration Do
agree to the Same, And do Order that John Martin< no role > Esqr.
Richard Ricards< no role > Esqr . Thomas Exelbee< no role > Esqr . & Andrew
Osborne Esqr . Justices of the peace of this County be
added unto and be of the Comittee above mentioned
