The King against Bernard Lewis < no role > Taxier on the
Prosecution of Nehemiah Reed< no role > for Perjury

Nehemiah Reed of Stockwell in the County of Surry Gentleman the
above named Prosecutor and James Mc George< no role > of Stamford Street in the
County of Surry Gentleman make Oath and say and first this deponent
Nehemiah Reed< no role > for himself saith That he did in February Sessions
last prefer a Bill of Indictment against the said Banard Lewis< no role >
Texier for Perjury And this deponent further saith that afterwards
he receiv'd a Notice from the said defendant purporting that he would
the then next April Sessions Surrender himself and Try his Traverse
upon the said Indictment And this deponent further saith that
the said Trial did not come on the Sessions and that the said
Defendant did not take out his Venise either in the following June
or July Sessions nor did he give this deponent any Notice of
Trial for either of those Sessions but suffered his Recognizance
to become forfeited and the same has been estreated as this Deponent
has been informed ande verily believes And this deponent saith
That on Wednesday the second day of September instant the
annexed Notice was left at this deponent s House And this deponent
further saith that Thomas James< no role > of Stamford Street Black
friars Road in the County of Surry Gentleman is a very
material Witness for this Deponent in the said prosecution and
that he cannot safely proceed to the Trial thereof without the
Testimony of the said Thomas James< no role > And this deponents further
saith That he hath used the utmost of his endeavours to find not
the said Thomas James< no role > and that he on Thursday the third
day of September instant and on several days and times since
hath been to the house of the said Thomas James< no role > and was
informed some times by the Clerks and at other times by the
