John Jacomb< no role > of Gracechurch Street London Linen Draper maketh
Oath that the above named Defendant was Yesterday the 22d Instant
Committed to Newgate by Mr. Alderman Wright on a Charge of
having unlawfully defrauded this Deponent and his Partners
of a Piece of Irish Linen and a piece of Muslin And this Deponent
saith that John Cressey< no role > of Lawrence Lane London Warehouseman
is as this Deponent is informed and believes a material Witness
against the said Elizabeth Davis< no role > for such Offence and without whose
testimony this Deponent cannot proceed to Prefer a Bill of Indictment
or to the Trial of the said Elizabeth Davis< no role > for such Offence And this
Deponent saith the said John Cressey< no role > in said in the County of
Lounshireabout a Fortnight since (long before the said Elizabeth
Davis was taken into Custody which happened on Wednesday Night
last) went from his Dwelling in London into the County of
Lancaster in Business and is not yet returned And this Deponent
further saith that he hath no doubt but the said John Cressey< no role > will
return and attend at the next Session and give Evidence against
the said Elizabeth Davis< no role > for the said Offence.
