St: James's 6th: Febry 1781 .

Sir,
Joseph Freeman< no role > , who was at
a Sessions holden at the old Bailey , tried
and convicted before you of Felony, and
received sentence of Death for the same,
but has since been respited, and is now
a Prisoner in the new Prison , Clerkenwell
and you having by Certificate under your
Hand humbly recommended Him to the
Thing as a fit object of His Royal Mercy,
on Condition that he the said Joseph
Freeman be kept to hard Labour for
the Term of Five years, in raising Sand,
Soil and Gravel from and cleaning the
River Thames , and other Services for the
Benefit of the Navigation of the said
River, under the Management and
Direction of the overseer or overseers
appointed in pursuance of an act of
Parliament passed in the Sixteenth year
of His Majesty< no role > 's Reign, entitled, an act to
"authorize for a limited Time the
"Punishment by hard Labour of offenders,
who
