James Gusthart< no role > of the Minories London Wollen
Draper maketh Oath that on the ninth Day of December now
last past a Commission of Bankrupt under the Great Seal of Great
Britain was awarded and issued against Thomas Sherwood< no role > late of
Houndsditch London Wollen Draper Dealer and Chapman and
he was thereupon duly found and declared a Bankrupt and the
Usual advertisement was inserted in the London Gazette of such
Commission being issued and of the Times and Place of Three several
Meetings of the commissioners under the said commission within
forty Two Days next after such Notice the last of which Meetings
was appointed to be on the twentieth day of January Instant
being the Forty second day and this Deponent further saith that
at the first of the said Meetings the said Bankrupt did surrender
himself to the Major part of the Commissioners in the said
Commission named and did sign and subscribe such surrender
and did submit to be examined from time to time by the major
part of the commissioners in the said commission named and
authorised touching the Disclosure and Discovery of his Estate and
Effects and in all things to conform himself to the several Statute
made and now in Force concerning Bankrupts but the said
Thomas Sherwood< no role > not being then prepared to make a full
Disclosure and Discovery of his Estate and Effects desired Time for
that Purpose and this Deponent further saith that at the second
Meeting of the Major part of the Commissioners Pursuant to such
Advertisement as aforesaid this Deponent together with Edward
Serjeant
< no role > of the Minories London Shopseller and George Wolf< no role >
of Well close Squre in the County of Middlesex Merchant were
duly chosen and appointed Assignees of the said Bankrupts Estate and Effects and
an Assignment thereof was thereupon Executed to them by the
Major of the said Commissioners And this Deponent further
saith that the said Bankrupt did not attend the second
Meeting and that he was soon afterwards as this Deponent
hath heard and believes apprehended on a Charge of Forgery
alledged to have been committed by him upon the Governor
and company of the Bank of England and this Deponent
further saith that it appears that the said Bankrupt at the
Time of his Failure had become engaged for one Samuel
Robinson by Bills Notes and otherwise to the Amount of
Four Thousand Pounds and upwards besides a considerate
Sum of Money which had actually been advanced and
paid by him for and on Account of the said Samuel
Robinson who has since the Apprehending of the said
Thomas Sherwood< no role > also been declared a Bankrupt and
this Deponent further saith that the Accounts between the
