for Felony

Robert Best< no role > of pater Noster Row London Peruke Maker
maketh Oath and saith that he this Deponent on or about the
twenty thirdDay of October 1772, then being one of the Constable
of this City, was charged by one John Robertson< no role > who then kept
a Chine shop in Saint Pauls church yard London to take into
Custody one Thomas Walker< no role > for stealing some China Ware
and this Deponent saith that the said Thomas Walker< no role > was
afterwards examined before one of the Magistrates of this City
and committed to Prison for the said Felony and the said John
Robertson was bound by Recognizance to prefer an Indictment
and give Evidence thereon against the said Thomas Walker< no role > for the same at the then next
sessions to be held for this City in the Months of December now
last past and this Deponent was also bound by Recognizance
to give Evidence on such Indictment to be preferred by the said
John Robertson< no role > and this Deponent saith that in pursuance of
his said Recognizance he attended at the session field at Justicehall
in the old Bailey in the said Month of December for three several
Days while the Grand Jury were there sitting in order to give
Evidence before them in case the said John Robertson< no role > had appeared
to prefer such Indictment but the said John Robertson< no role > did not
appear at the said sessions owing as this Deponent was afterwards
informed and which he believes to be true to the said John
Robertson's having been before such sessions arrested for Debt.
