except Dept. and thereupon Dept. desired them
to come on that they might get home, but they
refused so to do, and at the bottom of the Steps
of the David Alley sd. As good wrenched the
Staff out of a Watchman's hand which
the Deponentbelievedbelieves to be deced.
and with the said Staff struck the deceased
and knocked him down and immediatly
afterwards the said As good struckanother
man with the sd. Staff who had a Woman
with him who belives

a person then present with his Wife with the sd.
Staff and knocked him down likewise. Says
that no person Except As good had any Stick
or Weapon in his [..] hand. And this Deponent
saith that he hath been informed & believes
that the deced died last Saturday in Saint
Bartholomew's Hospital.

Bailey Baker maketh Oath andandsaith that on
Thursday night last about half an hour after
eleven to the best of Depts. Remembrance as
Dept. in Company with his Wife were going
in their way home through the paved Alley
leading to Fleet Ditch on his turning to the
Right hand when he had got to the bottom of
the Alley he saw five men together the Sd. John
Catling and Daniel As good being two of the five
the rest being Strong us to Dept. and the sd. As good
without any Prosocation struck Dept. in his
Fare with his First having now weapon in his
hand at that time and went away. and in a very Minutes afterwds.
returned with a [..] sattaff in his hand wch appeared
to Dept. to be a Watchman's Staff with which
he struck Dept. sevl. times and knocked him down
with it. Says he did not see any other person local
or knocked down.
