The King agt. Robert Law< no role > for a Misdemeanor
William Chamberlayne< no role > Sollicitor of his Majesty's
must and Nicholas Stampe< no role > porter of his Majesty's
Mint severally make Oath and say and first the said
Nicholas Kempe< no role > for himself saith That he did in pursuance
of directions Received from the said William Chamberlayer< no role >
go to the Dwelling House of William Backhouse< no role > in
long Lane Smithfield previous to these sessions in
Order to Give him Notice to attend as a witnesses
on behalf of the Crown against the abovenamed
Deponent at these present sessions but thisDept
Deponent Saith upon going to the late Dwelling
House of the said William Backhouse< no role > he found
he was Removed whereupon this Deponent saith
that he made diligent Inquiry after the said William
Backhouse in the Neighbourhood of the said William
Backhouse said of several of his Friends and
Rotations [..] ntioning the business that he wanted
him for and desiring his attendance on the said
William Chamberlayer< no role > but that he this Deponent
has not yet been able to turn where the said
William Backhouse< no role > note reside or has resided
for these three week last past and this Deponent
Wiliam Chamberlayne< no role > for himself saith that the
said William Backhouse< no role > is a every material witness
on behalf of the Crown against the above named
Depondant without whose Testimony a Bill of
Indictment came at be preferred against the Defendent
for the Crime where with he stand Charged and
this Deponent [..] William Chamberlayer< no role > for
himslf further saith that the only reason why
no Bill of Indictment is preformed against the
Defendant is the inability of finding the said
William Backhouse< no role > but this Deponent hopes
that he shall be able to find the said William
Backhouse so as to some him with prosess to
appear against the Defendant at the next Sessions

the 25th. of February 1758 .
