saith yt. he this Deponent being on ye. daylast above mentioned
by his sd. master ye. other Depont. Mr. Crisp ordered or directed to see
ye. sd. John Jones< no role > & John Cox< no role > to ye. sd. Mr. Woods ship at Gravesen aforesd.
and on no account to Pmit either of yr. or any meelse to take away
or possess him or themselves of ye. sd. Chest or wearing Apparel (the
sd. Mr. Crisps pperty) committed to this Deponts. care or charge
untill such time as ye. sd. Jones and Cox and this Depont. should come
on board ye. aforesd. ship or vessel, and which this Depont. full Intended
to have punctually observed or done in every respert accordingly
his sd. masters order; But this Deponting said Passage happenng
unfortunately to fall a sleep for a time, and on his awaking making
enquiry after ye. sd. Jones & Cox, & wt. were become of ye. sd. Chest and
goods contained therein, he this Depont. was thereupon Informed
or acquainted by one of ye. Watermen of or belonging to ye. sd. passage
Boat or where yt. ye. sd. Jones and Cox did (whilst this deponent
do slept) go on shore at a Place called or known by ye name of
Cucholds point being (as this Depont. is Informed & believes) in the
county of Surry land took or carried away with them ye. sd. Chest
and goods; And the sd. Depont. John Crisp< no role > for hinself further
deposeth, and saith yt. he this Deponent having in a short time
afterwards reced information or Intelligence that ye. sd. Cox [..]
Jones in [..] at be founder mett with at or near King James
staires in Wapping , this Deponent did thereupon on ye. thirtieth
day of January last aforesaid Procure warrt. from John Fielding< no role >
Esqr . for apprehending of yor. ye. sd. Cox and Jones, and whereon yr.
sd. Jones only being taken, was on ye. sixteen of sd. February
carried before ye. sd. Mr. Fielding when on & a mining of him
and ye. oaths of this Deponent and the sd. Thomas Sayton< no role > (to ye.
purport or effect aforesd.) ye. sd. John Jones< no role > was committed to his
majties. Goal of Newgate by ye. sd. Justices for (as ye. sd. committmt.
expresses) knowingly and definingly obtaining from this Dep [..]
"John Crisp< no role > a quantity of waring Apparel, and other [..]
"false pretences with intent to cheat & defrand the [..]
"contrary to the statute Etc And to prosecute whom he this [..]
Deponent John Crisp< no role > was then by ye. sd. Mr. Fielding bound
ever by Recognizance the Penal sum of Twenty Pounds
or some such like sum of money to prosecute the sd. Jony
in London for the above, mentioned offence, and which [..]
Deponent did accordingly in tend to have done, But [..]
application by him to Mr. Jefferson (as this Deponent
believes his Name to be) to have an Indictment [..]
