Margaret< no role > the Wife of John Smout< no role > of
Little Swan alley in Goswell Street Clerkenwell
Saith (wife to John Smout< no role > a Prisoner in said Gaol)
upon her Oath Saith That last Thursday in the
Evening Depont. came down Stairs from her Husband
for a pot of Beer for Dept. and Seer said Husband
That as Depont. was [..] sasetting on the Stairs
near the Bottom she saw the prisoner Thornton
standing at the Gate begging, and while Thornton
contained begging the deced came up to the Gate
near Thornton On which Thornton said damn
you get away, and imediately thereupon struck
the deced in the pit of the Stomach, at which the
deced said do you see now (a comon Expression
with the deced when affronted) the deced then
attempted to go again to the Gate, on which the
said Thornton gave him a push which forced
the deced against the Wall, his Head falling
violently against the same and then deced fell
upon his Back to the Ground, and laid Speechless
and Depont. believed he was then dead.
