An Inquisition Indented and taken On the Behalf of our Sovereign Lord the King at the
Parish of Saint Martin Ludgate in the Ward of Farringdon with in the City of London on
the Thirtieth Day of March in the 25th. Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the
second King of Great Britain & Etc Before John King< no role > Esquire Coroner of our sd. Lord the
King for the Sd. City of London Upon the View of the Body of One John Davison< no role > then and
there lying dead by the Oaths of William Darwent< no role > , James Bryant< no role > , John Clements< no role > , John

< no role > and Daniel Baker< no role > Good and lawfull Men of the sd. City who being sworn and
charged to enquire for our said Present Sovereign Lord the King when, where, how, by
what Means and what Manner the said John Davison< no role > came to his Death who say upon
their said Oath That Henry Pestell< no role > late of the Parish aforesaid in the Ward aforesaid in the
city aforesd. Labourer not having God before his Eyes But being moved and seduced by the
Instigation of the Devil on the Twenty third Day of the same Month of March in the Year
aforesaid He the said Henry Pestell< no role > a certain Quantity of a certain Drug commonly
called Jallup feloniously old put his and mingle with a certain Quantity of Milk
which sd. Milk so mixed with the said Jallup He the said Henry Pestell< no role > did put and
place in Order to be drank and swallowed by the said John Davison< no role > and he the sd. John
Davison not knowing the said Milk to be mixed with the said Jallup as a aforesaid did
then & there drink and did allow down By Means whereof he the sd John Davison< no role >
became sick and distempered in his Body of which said Sickness and Distemper he the
said John Davison< no role > languished and languishing did his from the said Twenty third Day
of March to the Twenty Ninth Day of the said Month of March in Year aforesaid
at the parish aforesaid in the Ward aforesaid in the City aforesaid on which said
Twenty Ninth Day of March the Sd. John Davison< no role > of the Sd. Sickness and Distemper
occasioned by the [..] Drinking and swallowing down of the said Milk so mixed & mingled
with the said Drug called Jallop as aforesd. did die And that one Joseph Johnson< no role > late
of the Parish aforesaid in the Ward aforesaid in the City aforesd. Labourer at the Time of
the Felony aforesd. done and committed by the said Henry Pestell< no role > then and there was
present aiding and abetting the said Henry Pestell< no role > the Felony aforesaid in Manner and
From aforesd. to commit and do And so the Jurors aforesd. upon their Oath aforesaid do
say That the said Henry Pestell< no role > and Joseph Johnson< no role > him the said John Davison< no role > in Manner
