as much as in him lay totally to hinder and retard the due Execution of Justice from
the said 22d. day of December in the same Yearlast aforesaiduntill the day of the taking
of this Inquisition at the same Parish and Wardlast aforesaid and [..] upon the samethe said
22d. day of December [..] last aforesaidin ye same 14th year of our sd Lord they Voluntarily obstinately and
contemptuously wholly refused denyed and neglected to take upon himself and
execute the said Office of Constable against his said Duty in manifest contempt
and Delay of Justice to the bad Example of all others in the like Case offending
and against the Peace of our said Lord the King his Crown and Dignity and
so forth And the said Jurors upon their said Oath further present that the
said John Pugett< no role > the same 22d. day of December in the 14th Yearlast aforesaid and long
before and always after untill the day of the taking of this Inquisition was
inhabiting and resiant and paying Scott and bearing Lott within the said Parish
of St. Botolph Bishopsgate in the Ward of Bishopsgate aforesaid and that
within the Ward of Bishopsgate to aforesaid there is and from the time whereof the
Memory of Man is not to the Contrary there hath been a certain Court of our
Lord the King now and his Predecessors called the Wardmote held and to be held
in every Year in and upon the Feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle unless the
said Feast happened to be on a Sunday and in such Case upon the Day then
next following the said Feast before the Aldermen of the Ward aforesaid for
the Time being or his Deputy in which said Court according to the Custom
within the said Ward for all the time aforesaid used and approved to wit in the
said Parish of St. Helen in the Ward aforesaid have been used
